The Worst Music Poll is currently down. Sorry about this. Perl 5.8.0 seems to have removed the NDBM_File package which was used to handle the database behind this CGI script. Normal service will be resumed when I can extract the data and set things up properly again.

Welcome to the worst music poll. These pages allow you to vote on what you consider to be the worst music of all time: the musically inept, the stupid, the pompous and the vacuous. Those songs which, no matter how much you hate them, you can't erase from their memory. These pages are their hall of shame. You can name them, display them for the world to see and hold them up to ridicule.

These pages were inspired by a Dave Barry column where, having run out of ideas for a while, he invited his readers to share their musical hatreds. His readers nominated MacArthur Park.

But that was long ago, using antiquated concepts such as newspapers and letters written using ink and paper, the same technology that Tudor playwrights used to register their displeasure at the latest madrigal. Such obsolete methods need to be brought kicking and screaming into the 21st century. With the miracle of fully automated servers and the power of the Internet, it is now possible to register your dislikes 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

How to Use these Pages

As a starting point, you can view the archives in two ways:

Listing by Name Allows you to view the various titles in alphabetical order.

Listing by Votes Allows you to see the various titles by generated ire.

You can view the voting record for various songs by clicking on the song title. You can view the band's/artist's/whatever's entries by clicking on the band name.

If you want to vote for a song, click on this icon. Since hatred, in this case, is a much stronger emotion than love, you may wish to vote many, many times. As a convienience, you can register up to a million votes at a time, all by pressing a single button.

If you want to add a new title to the list, use this icon. At the moment, you can only nominate a particular song, not a band. The reasoning here is that even Enya must have an on-day sometimes.
